Introduction
This free crochet granny square pattern is fun and quick to make. This Pop Flower mini granny square was one of the very first granny squares I designed a few years ago to celebrate Granny Square Day. This crochet granny square can be used for many types of crochet projects such as a small blanket, tote bag, or even put together to make a simple sweater.
The size of the Pop Flower Granny square makes it perfect for using up your yarn stash so you can really go to town with your colour selection. I hope you enjoy making your free crochet granny square pattern – have fun!

Special Stitches
Double Treble Crochet – Yoh twice and insert into indicated st, yoh and pull up a loop (4 loops on hk), (yoh and pull through 2 loops) three times.
Front Post Double Crochet – Insert your hk front to back around the next st post inserting it to the right of the st and back out to the left, pull up a loop and finish your dc in the usual way.
Invisible Join – Pull through the yarn and thread onto a tapestry needle. Thread under the ‘v’ of the next but one st and pull through yarn. Thread the needle back into the bl and 3rd loop of the last st to form a ‘v’. Secure and FO. This method creates a ‘fake’ st after the last st of the round. It has a neater finish and doesn’t affect the final st count.
Popcorn Stitch – Make 5tr in the same st, unhook the last st and insert the hk into the 1st tr from front to back, then pick up the last tr loop from back to front and pull this through the 1st loop on the hk so you have 1 loop left.
