This crochet fern leaf free pattern requires very small quantities of any DK 100% cotton yarn for good stitch definition.

Instructions
With a 3.5mm (US E-4) hook, ch28.
Round 1 (WS) Starting in 2nd ch from hk, dc in each st, turn. [27 sts]
Round 2 (RS) Ss into next 6 sts, *ch8, starting in 2nd ch from hk: ss, dc, 3htr, 2tr, ss in next 3 sts* (see Fig. 1), rep from * to * twice more (see Fig. 2), **ch7, starting in 2nd ch from hk: ss, dc, 3htr, tr, ss in next 3 sts**, rep from ** to ** once more (see Fig. 3),
***ch6, starting in 2nd ch from hk: ss, dc, 2htr, tr, ss in next 3 sts***, rep from *** to *** once more (see Fig. 4), (ch6, starting in 2nd ch from hk: ss, dc, 2htr, tr, ss in top of starting ch) twice, working around the top of the fern leaf (see Fig. 5).
Working back down the central starting ch into the bl: rep from *** to *** three times, rep from ** to ** twice, rep from * to * three times, ss in the last 2 sts along the stem, FO [17 fern fronds, 1 stem].

Weave in ends and block your fern leaf. Lightly spray with starch if you need your leaf to be a little stiffer.
