Instructions

With Col. A and a 3.5mm (US E-4) hook, ch20.

Round 1. (RS) *Starting in 2nd ch from hk, 12dc (1st leaf vein made, the unused 7 ch of beg ch20 form the stem), ch17 (the 1st 4 ch form part of the central stem), rep from * twice more (2nd & 3rd leaf veins made), ch13, starting in 2nd ch from hook, 12dc (4th leaf vein made, see Fig. 1), **ch13, starting in 2nd ch from hk, 16dc (the last 4 dc of the 16 will be made into the central stem, 5th leaf vein made), rep from ** twice more, dc in last 3 sts, FO. [ 7 leaf veins, 1 stem, see Fig. 2]

Tip: when working back into the central stem, ensure that the chain is not twisted. 

Round 2.  With Col. B ss in the 8th bl ch of beg ch20 (beg of 1st leaf vein), work these sts into the bl of the next ch12: 2dc, htr, 2tr, 2tr in next 2 sts, 2tr, htr, dc, picot,

now working into the dc on the opposite side of the leaf: dc, htr, 2tr, 2tr in next 2 sts, 2tr, htr, 2dc, ss (1st leaf made, see Fig. 3), *4dc into bl of central stem ch, continue in the bl: ss, 2dc, htr, 2tr, 2tr in next 2 sts, 2tr, htr, dc, picot, dc, htr, 2tr, 2tr in next 2 sts, 2tr, htr, 2dc, ss, rep from * once more (see Fig. 4),

Round 3. (WS) Starting in the next st after the last ss made in Rnd 2, ss into each st around each leaf and stem sections skipping the picots, FO.

Weave in ends. Block your leaf and lightly spray with starch if you need your stem of leaves to be a little stiffer.
