Pattern Notes
Please read these instructions before you start:
As an alternative to a slip stitch into the 1st stitch at the end of each round, you could work an invisible join where applicable. This pattern suggests the use of standing stitches at the beginning of some rounds when starting a new colour. See my Special Stitches to familiarise yourself before starting the pattern. These techniques are a great way to level up your crochet skills!

Special Stitches
3 treble cluster crochet | (Yoh, insert into st and pull up a loop, yoh and pull through 2 loops) three times, yoh and pull through 4 loops on hk. See here for the video demonstration. |
extended double crochet | Insert hk into indicated st and pull up a loop, yoh and pull through 1 loop, yoh and pull through 2 loops leaving 1 loop on the hk. See here for the video demonstration. |
invisible join | Pull through the yarn and thread onto a tapestry needle. Thread under the ‘v’ of the next but one st and pull through yarn. Thread the needle back into the bl and 3rd loop of the last st to form a ‘v’. Secure and FO. This method creates a ‘fake’ st after the last st of the round. It has a neater finish and doesn’t affect the final st count. |
standing double crochet | Make a slip knot on your hk, hold this in place on the hk and insert hk into the st, pull up a loop, yoh and pull through both loops as you would with a normal dc. The slip knot will remain at the top of the st. See here for the video demonstration. Alternative: ss into indicated st, ch1 (does not count as a st) and continue to work a dc in same st. |
standing extended double crochet | Start in the same way as the standing double crochet but work an extended double crochet. Alternative: ss into indicated st, ch1 (does not count as a st) and continue to work an exdc in same st. |
